5 Reasons to Consider a Career In Nursing

If you are considering a career in nursing, there is no better time than now. The need for nurses is at an all-time high due to a number of factors. Nurses not only earn a high salary, they work in a variety of settings and most importantly, the work that they do is necessary and impactful.

Here is a list of reasons why you should consider a career in nursing:

1. High Demand for Nurses

The nursing industry is still reeling from the pandemic. There are significant shortages around the country that hospitals are still trying to fill. In addition, many ‘baby boomers’ are retiring. This means we will need a new generation of nurses to come on board to care for the sick.

2. Access to Online and Hybrid Nursing Programs

If the traditional educational setting doesn’t work for you, many programs are offered online. Nursing is no different. Nursing is a hands-on profession so you will be required to complete online classes and complete clinicals in a healthcare setting.

3. Choose Your Specialty

Nurses have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings. With over 100 different specialties, the chances of getting bored with your assignment is unlikely.

4. Your Work is Meaningful

The impact of your work is almost instant. Nurses are there during a patient’s darkest hours such as battling an illness to the happiest of times, such as delivering a baby. Nurses really make a difference in the lives of their patients.

5. Job Security

According to statics, the baby boomer generation will reach age 65 by the year 2023. In addition, 85% of older adults reportedly have at least one chronic health condition. As our population continues to age, we will need more dedicated professionals to care for them.
